Showing our dogs in Conformation is a vital part of being a Reputable Breeder and we take great pride in Handling them ourselves in the show ring. With some dogs referred to as Breeder/Owner/Handled. It is not all the pageantry people think it is. It is more like 4H in which we are bringing our breeding stock in front of a judges to be examined, evaluated and compared to the standard of the breed. I also look at it as a temperament test; that is it takes a dog with a solid temperament to be able to be shown; to tolerate large and noisy crowds, strangers putting their hands all over them, examining their teeth, feeling structure, standing inches from other intact dogs without reacting in any way... ALL of our dogs are shown. Doing Conformation is huge investment of time and money to show our dogs to Championship. They have at least one of the following titles, or are still competing, International Champion, UKC Champion, AKC Champion/Grand Champion/Bronze Grand Champion, Certificate of Merit (CM) or CM and so on. Showing is one aspect that sets us apart form Puppy mills and Backyard Breeders. We show them in AKC, UKC, NIPPO and IABCA. (Client's Pet puppies comes out of the same litters of our Show puppies.) I do ongoing advocating and breed education in both breeds, but especially the rarely seen, Shikoku Ken. I have founded a local enthusiasts organization, Shikoku Fanciers Of Northern California. I have done many AKC Meet The Breed Events over the past few years. You might have met our dogs at these events at Silver Bay KC, San Diego, Nor Cal Cherry Blossom Festiva, SF, Cupertino Cherry Blossom Festival and 2025 Woofstock AKC Meet The Breed , Vallejo.
